
Instructions
- Heat oil or lard in a large pot. Add onions and cook until soft and lightly golden.
- Remove from heat and stir in the paprika.
- Add chicken, garlic, tomato, and bell pepper. Season with salt and pepper.
- Pour in the chicken broth, cover, and simmer gently for 35–45 minutes, until the chicken is tender.
- Remove the chicken and keep warm.
- Mix sour cream and flour in a bowl. Whisk in a few spoonfuls of the hot cooking liquid.
- Stir the sour cream mixture into the sauce and simmer gently for 3–5 minutes, until slightly thickened.
- Return the chicken to the pot and coat with the creamy paprika sauce.
- Garnish with fresh parsley.
Serving
Serve hot with Hungarian nokedli (dumplings), egg noodles, rice, or crusty bread.
